Top 10 Health and Fitness Gifts for 2011image by Kevin Dooley

I’m finally ready to acknowledge the Christmas season. Out of respect to Thanksgiving I haven’t been listening to Christmas music or pulled out any Christmas decorations. Nor have I done any holiday shopping.

But today is the day the official holiday shopping season kicks off. I want to help if, like me, you haven’t started your shopping yet.  If you have someone on your list that is focused on getting healthy and fit or if you’re looking for some suggestions for your own wish list, here are my top 10 health and fitness gifts.

  • CalorieSmart Hand Held Calorie Calculator: While most of us have smart phones these days, not everyone does. This handy device gives you the ability to count calories, carbs, protein or any number of other food stats from anywhere.
  • Wusthof 3 piece Classic Gourmet Knife Set: To cook healthy and fit, you need good tools. This knife set will handle just about anything. I love my Wusthof Chefs knife.
  • Blender Bottle with wire Shaker Ball: A must for making your protein shake on the go. Great stocking stuffer.
  • The Step Original Health Club Step:  A good step can be used for more than step aerobics. It can serve as bench or be used for plyo moves. This one is very sturdy and you can add height by buying more risers.
  • Built Neoprene Tasty Lunch Tote: “Brown bagging” it instead of eating out for lunch can save you money and calories. This insulated tote is also machine washable.
  • Body Bugg: Do you love getting down to details? Then this gadget is for you, letting you know exactly how many calories you are burning at any given moment.
  • SPRI Foam Roller: Foam rolling is a great addition to your standard stretching routine. Great for those hard to hit spots like the IT band.
  • Gymboss: Are you a fan of HIIT? Then this is the perfect gadget for you. Time your intervals precisely instead of trying to remember the time on the clock.
  • Oxygen Magazine: Inspiration in the mail every month with a subscription to this fantastic fitness magazine. Great recipes, workouts and tips.
  • Body Bar: Not ready for a barbell and plate set? Give the Body Bar a try. Try the 9 and 12 lbs weights to help you make that transition.

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Shopping!

Cool list of health and fitness for the holidays. I do not see wii fit or Microsoft Kinect Active or such fitness devices. :D )

Like the list. Thumbs up. I have re-tweeted this story to my twitter followers.

Those are both great ideas! I love my Wii Fit. Thanks for the adds.

The BodyBugg is wicked expensive. I think any of these is a more reasonable alternative: Gruve, FitBit, Philips Directlife. I would also suggest GPS devices for fitness monitoring, location services and even Geocaching. Not sure if it’s a good or bad thing that I own/owned most everything on your list.
