FAQ

Q: Why should I hire a personal trainer?

While a personal trainer might not be for everyone, here are some things to consider:

  1. A personal trainer can add a new level of accountability, something that can help people stick to a program until it becomes a habit.
  2. A professional can design a program for you based on science specifically for you and your needs.
  3. Our bodies adapt very quickly. We also have a tendency to get in a rut and not push ourselves to go farther, faster or heavier.  A personal trainer can make sure you continue to challenge yourself and add variety to your workout.

Q: As a female, I don’t want to get bulky. Do I really need to lift weights?

Yes, resistance training is essential. Lean muscle mass is our most efficient calorie burner. Resistance training helps us to slow down the decline in muscle mass that comes naturally as we grow older. Also, women do not have the natural ability to gain bulk the same way men do. I have been lifting 10 years and have never even approached bulky.

Q: I want to lose weight. What is more important-cardio or weight lifting?

Both.  Cardio is a great fat burner, resistance training will help you build lean muscle mass.  A pound of lean muscle burns more calories than a pound of fat.

Q: Why do you need all the information in the sign up questionnaire?

As a health professional, my first priority is your safety.  In order to proceed safely I first need to understand if you have any serious conditions that, when combined with exercise, could put your health in jeopardy.  Everyone should talk to their doctor before starting an exercise program or making changes to their nutrition program.

Q: I really don’t have a lot of money for equipment. Can you still help me?

A program can be designed with any level of equipment, even just your own body weight and a good pair of athletic shoes.

Q: You talk about food a lot. Isn’t exercising enough?

It would be easy if our workouts let us eat whatever we want, but in reality that is not the case. I firmly believe that nutrition is a huge part of the equation.  You have to make sure the calories you eat aren’t more than what you need and that they come from quality, whole foods.

Q: Can you guarantee I will lose weight?

My goal is for you to achieve your goals. I will provide you the tools and knowledge to be successful. However, the execution is up to you. Therefore, I cannot guarantee specific results. I can guarantee that I will provide you all the information you need to achieve your goals and I will support you on that path. If don’t meet those expectations, you are entitled to a 100% refund on unused sessions or months.
