We’ve all heard it before.

April showers bring May flowers.

That doesn’t make the rain any more fun.

It’s been a colder and snowier winter than usual. I was over winter before Christmas. Spring has sprung but it continues to be chilly with a lot of precipitation. I am ready to break out my tank tops and drive with the windows down. I need large daily doses of sunshine to pull me out of the winter funk.

It’s not meant to be yet, so I’ll try to make friends with the showers with a new workout playlist dedicated to the rain. Rain does bring beauty and it hydrates the earth the way we should hydrate our bodies. And at least it’s not snow.

  • Set Fire to the Rain by Adele: Waiting for spring, waiting for a new Adele album.
  • Only Happy When it Rains by Garbage: Did you know Shirley Manson acts too? And Garbage still puts out music? Who knew?
  • Rain by the Cult: This song makes me long for warm summer storms.
  • Spring Love 2013 by Stevie B (feat. Pitbull): I love spring and I don’t care that it’s 2014.
  • Here Comes the Rain Again by the Eurythmics: Nothing says the 80s like Annie Lenox’s orange crew cut.
  • Missing by Everything but the Girl: I love a good one hit wonder.
  • A Year Without Rain by Selena Gomez: Damn her and her catchy pop hooks!
  • Rain over Me by Pitbull (feat. Marc Anthony): It’s hard to make a good playlist these days without multiple Pitbull songs.
  • Umbrella by Rhianna (Travis Barker mix feat. Jay Z): I never have one when I need one.

What spring tune gets you singing in the rain? Or maybe running in the rain?
