When I say “Summer of Bliss” what’s the first thing that comes to mind?

Perhaps a white sandy beach with waves gently rolling towards you?

Or maybe evenings on the patio, grilling and enjoying an outdoor dinner with the one you love?

Maybe a cabin in the woods, overlooking a lake and green trees as far as the eye can see?

This year I say Summer of Bliss means eating more vegetables and a plank a day. Are you with me?

If not, you should be! Summer, when the days are long and the produce is plentiful, is the perfect time to start developing new healthy habits. Thanks to bliss.com and socialworkout.com we can do it together.

The Summer of Bliss is a 30-day get focused, get fit challenge.  Here’s how the team at bliss.com describes it:

Summer of Bliss is a personal challenge we’ve designed to inspire our readers (and ourselves when we’re having a hard day!) to accomplish better health habits on a daily basis. Even if you’re already healthy, this extra fun challenge will help you push yourself to the next level!

And they’ve asked yours truly to be a team captain for the challenge. I love a good challenge so of course I said yes. You and I will spend the next 30 days, starting today, making positive changes (or refreshing our commitment to ones old ones – in my case a plank a day).  All you have to do is click here for the Thrive Fit All Stars Team page, join the team and the Summer of Bliss challenge.

The challenge does start today! I don’t want you to get behind, so here’s a sneak peak at what you need to do plus a hint or two on how to make it happen.

  1. Limit sugary beverages. This one should be easy. I’ve been asking you to give up soda for a long time! Replace it with unsweetened tea or lemon infused water.
  2. 5 minutes of mediation a day. I love The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Meditation

. It has my favorite stress busting exercise.
  3. Eat your vegetables and fruit. I say vegetables first because you should be eating more of those than fruits. Need some help? Check out my Triple Protein Salad or Peanut Butter Kale Shirataki Noodle recipes.
  4. Plank a day. Like I said, I forget to do this one myself. Check in on me please!

These aren’t the only tasks – make sure you sign up to see the rest of what your Summer of Bliss will look like. Keep me updated on your progress. Post updates and pics to our team page. Or tweet me with the hash tag #summerofbliss. I look forward to enjoying a fit and blissful summer with all of you!
