    This is such a confusing thing. I guess I figure as long as I am strength training, running, and eating clean it’ll all work out in the wash?

    It does. I say keep multiple measures, the most important being how do you feel? If you feel good and your energy is up, you are doing something right. Then keep track of how your clothes feel. Again if they feel better and looser you are doing something right. Finally all the data points like weight, body fat %, measurements of hips, waist, abdomen and the like. That should help give you the big picture as your body changes composition. Focus particulary on weights and clean eating to get the biggest bang for your buck.
