Surely there are some things that aren’t allowed?

How is it possible to know what is right when you don’t know what is wrong?

In rejecting the Diet Mentality and All or Nothing thinking, you have to rewrite the “rules”. You have to write your own Owner’s Manual based on what makes sense for YOU.

You have to face the fears, know you are enough and listen to your body to find your way.

The third part of the Middle Ground Manifesto is what makes it possible to go after your goals and live a balanced life at the same time.

The most important part of all of this is PRACTICE. It will never be perfect because perfect doesn’t exist. Each day do your best to find your middle. Look into your own eyes in the mirror and say, “I AM ENOUGH”. Start writing your Owner’s Manual by deciding what things work best for your body.

The Middle Ground Manifesto is about rejecting their rules and writing your own.

There is a middle ground.

There is enough to go around.

There is a time and place for everything.

I’ve been working on my own manual for some time, even though I didn’t realize it. In fact, this manifesto started with my collection of “rules” for living life as a fit, healthy and happy female. I started to see a theme in them as I read some great books (like Daring Greatly by Brene Brown), spent more time in reflection and listened closely to the experiences and stories of my clients.

The Middle Ground Manifesto is the outcome of that effort. It is now the core of my owner’s manual (and I hope yours too) and I want to share these rules. I thought about writing another book. In fact that was the original thought process as I started to collect more and more rules. As the Middle Ground Manifesto started to come together I realized that a book would not accomplish my true goal: empowering as many women as possible with health and fitness.
