We wrapped up the 2013 BetterU Challenge at the end of August. Our last session was more of a celebration than a class. It was a chance to relax and chat about the challenges that had been overcome and the ones that still lie ahead. Plans were made to run 5Ks together and meet up for workout classes. A tear or two might have been shed.

It was also a chance to share their stories in preparation for the GoRed for Women luncheon this Thursday. The luncheon, a fundraiser for the American Heart Association, is when they get to shine. They will each get their turn on the catwalk as the emcee shares a part of their story. Each lady has also chosen a song to be played which she feels symbolizes her journey. 10 women, 10 songs? Sounds like a great playlist to me.

It also gives me a chance to give a little tribute of my own to each one. I won’t get to be there on the big day but I hope they know I am always with them in spirit.

: Malissa, I feel blessed for having met you. Keep moving forward, one step of the time. Slow and steady always wins the race.

I feel blessed for the privilege of knowing each of these ladies. I will miss them but I am also already anticipating hearing their updates when we prepare next spring for BetterU 2014.
