I’ve recently added a new protein powder to my arsenal – True Vitality

from the Green Foods people. As a vegetarian I don’t eat fish (that would be a pescetarian). Therefore was concerned about a lack of DHA, an omega 3 essential fatty acid, in my diet. True Vitality helped fill the gap with a plant based formula that has 1000 mg of DHA, much more economical than any pill I had found.

The problem is that it doesn’t shake well. I have 2 Rubbermaid shaker bottles that I use with my Designer Whey protein powder

with no issue. Not so much with the True Vitality. The protein powder just sits there while I do what appears to be a Shake Weight workout trying to get the last clumps to mix. It’s even worse if I put the powder in the bottle first thing in the morning and take it with me to the studio to drink after an afternoon workout. It’s like it forms a solid mass if it sits still too long.

The answer to my problem came out of the blue from the team at BlenderBottle. I got an email shortly after I started using True Vitality from the BlenderBottle team asking if I would like to do a review of their BlenderBottle SportMixer. This, I thought, was divine intervention from my fitness fairy godmother.

We already have some BlenderBottles at my house. My husband uses the Classic religiously. Thus, I hear him make the same complaint often. They leak. The lids, somehow, seem to be fit for their specific bottle. If you don’t get the lid back to the right bottle (which is near impossible when you have half a dozen of them) it leaks. The one or 2 times I’ve attempted to use one, I had issues getting the lid on and leaks during the shaking process.

The new SportMixer is color coded – lid matches the bottle. I know my lid goes to my bottle. No leaks, no fuss, no muss. The BlenderBottle is different than my Rubbermaid shakers because of the surgical stainless steel mixing ball in the bottom. No more clumps, just one smooth shake. Since he’s had his bottles for many years I also couldn’t be sure that they are BPA free. The new BlenderBottles (both Classic and SportMixer) are free from BPA and Phthalate. I can also get them in a variety of colors, making it easy to know which bottles are mine and which lid goes with the right bottle.

Now when packing my lunch bag for the day I fill my BlenderBottle SportMixer with water, which I drink through the morning, and then add my protein powder and more water when ready to drink. And I don’t get an extra arm workout trying to mix the two.
