Awesome, I've bookmarked the site already! It looks great. For whatever reason, this has really caught my imagination - I may yet morph into a kettlebeller extraordinaire ;-) Thanks for your advice and help!

I checked with my trainer.....my gym doesn't have kettlebells, nor (obviously!) does it offer kettlebell training (I know, I know....;-) BUT: my trainer is familiar with the technique, and is going to check what weights I should get - if I buy the equipment myself, there's no reason we can't use it. I'd be grateful for any info you can dig up though!

I am not aware of any kettlebell video blogs, but I will do some checking around and let you know what I find out from some of the other trainers I know.

Thanks. I'll check it out with my trainer and see what he says. I'm just really curious about this, as I keep hearing so much about it. I'll keep you posted. How about a videoblog on kettlebell training for beginners? :-) Liz

Many people enjoy kettlebell training for weight loss and building muscles. The workouts tend to be full body and require you to have good control over you body (i.e. balance). There are many great sites and programs, like the ones mentioned above, and some areas are lucky enough to have classes. Give it a try and see how you like it. It can never hurt to have one more tool in your fitness arsenal.

Hi Pamela, I'm looking to shake up my workout routine a little bit, and I keep reading about kettlebells, but I don't know anything about them - let alone how to train with them. What's the deal? Is it an effective way to build muscle, burn calories and generally shake up your body? :-) Liz

As is also the case with the stomach and "muffin top", most of it is actually diet. You can't spot reduce so overall exercise and eating clean with be your main weapons to target this problem.
To increase muscle for a more defined back, you need a variety of exercises that hit the shoulders as well. Some of my favorite exercises are bent over barbell rows, bent over lat raises and pullups.

What are the best exercises to get rid of what I refer to as "granny fat back".. Those unsightly bulges around the bra line?

There are lots of great sources of information on kettlebells training. I like kettlebell training because they work the whole body, are affordable and can be used anywhere.
Susan at Catapult Fitness (and a contributor at DailyBurn, one of my favorite sites) is a big fan of Turbulance Training, which incorporates kettlebell training.
Or if you prefer a program designed just for you, I use any and all equipment a client has or wishes to use in my online program design service for only $45. If you're interested, see the Services tab and contact me for more details.

Hi! I am looking for a good kettlebell HIIT routine that might give me a good solid 30 minute workout to blast fat and build endurance/stamina. Do you have any recommendations?

My mother in law gave me her Wii Active to try out. It was okay. I'm glad I didn't pay for it, let's put it that way. The exercises are mostly solid, but it's sort of cumbersome to play and make sure you have all the equipment placed just so. I really enjoy Gold's Gym Cardio box. You start to break a sweat soon after you start and the moves are easy. Does anyone else enjoy fitness video games?
