That's the greatest part about it. When I turn off the TV I get to read more. I love books too but there always seems to be something going on. When the TV gets turned off, I read something instead.

That job is going to change my life :-) I was always really sceptical about meditation and suchlike, but I have to say I've changed my tune in the light of recent events. Turning off the TV is a good idea......I deal with that problem simply by not having one at all - I live surrounded by books!

I am so happy to hear about that new job and that you have found a healthful way to deal with stress. It seems like these days we are all on high alert all day long. Starting meditation has been a great help to me. I am also trying to get in at least one yoga session a week. Another huge help has been turning of the television at least an hour before bed. I find my mind much more calm and ready for sleep by doing that.

Sometimes I think you're reading my mind :-) For over a month now, I've been having weekly sophrology (relaxation therapy) sessions with a friend (being a stressed-out girl at the best of times), and it has been fabulous. For some months now, I've had a long daily commute which left me little time to do anything else - even normal, everyday activities - and I just lost it. The relaxation therapy has helped me calm down, and is a nice complement to my daily gym workouts. Also, I have found a solution to stress factor no. 1, and will start a new job in July......with a commute of ten minutes ;-)
I'm learning again to take pleasure in small things - a blue sky, an unusual statue in the street, a beautiful painting, good coffee.....things I had forgotten to do for a while. As for being grateful for the taste of protein bars, I tried a new variation yesterday: I substituted half the quantity of oatmeal in your recipe with some spelt-amaranth muesli, vanilla whey powder, a teaspoon of cinnamon and two very ripe medium bananas.....makes a delicious moist bar. Yum!
