Hi Josh, thanks for popping over! :) I think you and your wife are a great example of how everyone is different. Genetics play a role. There are 3 main body types and you sound, perhaps, like an ectomorph who is naturally lean. Your wife may be more like me, an endomorph, who by nature likes to hold onto fat. Having said that, it doesn't mean you can't overcome your body type. It takes more work for the endomorph than the ectomorph but it can be done.
As far as when you eat, it can depend on goals, when workouts take place and where someone is in their weight loss journey. The closer to goal weight, fighting those last 5-10 lbs, the more difference it can make. That's one of the reasons I develop individual plans vs. a one size fits all approach. Typically when someone is just starting out, has lots of weight to lose, and is new to fitness I don't worry as much about timing as I do helping them get to the right amount of food and getting good quality food. For someone who is more advanced or closer to their goal, then I start to get into the fine details. If you want to get into more specifics just shoot me an email at pamela@thrivepersonalfitness.com I would be happy to discuss it further.
Yours is great site too, by the way. After fitness, reading is my second love. I don't miss workouts or book club. :)

Hi Pamela, I'm popping in from World's Strongest Librarian to say you're doing something very cool over here. I've also got a quick question as a fellow fitness-head. What are your thoughts about women and WHEN they eat vs what they eat? For me, I'm able to eat just about anything I want and stay very lean (260 lbs, about 10% BF) as long as I'm done with insulin-spiking foods by about 3 PM. My wife doesn't seem to fit this pattern at all. I'd love to know if you've got any experience with this or you could shed some light on each of our situations.
